Mortar

A family going through an internal (not minor, but not apocalyptic) crisis starts to realize that their windows and doors are being covered up by bricks. The source and method of implementation are unclear. They have some success prying them away, but also get distracted by their quiet, interminable fights and other distractions like television and the internet. Eventually, during a long holiday break (during which going outside is rare anyway) the bricks are almost entirely covering all portals. A self-described "supernatural handyman" and his partner, which the family's eldest male have befriended online, offers to come and help out. They stock up on food and water. The house gets sealed entirely despite the handyman's efforts. Then the interior starts getting bricked up as well.
